It looks like strength.
But it’s hyper-independence.
It’s over-functioning.
It looks like love.
But it's people-pleasing.
Saying yes when you really want to scream no.
It looks like you have it all together.
But it’s self-abandonment dressed up as the one with the Instagram perfect life.
It’s shrinking your truth so no one feels threatened.
It’s pretending you feel pleasure while making the grocery list in your head.
The patterns that brought you here were not failures.
They were, in fact, incredibly intelligent, adaptive and protective.
But, survival strategies are not the same as sovereignty, and they hide your radiant, amazing self.
Afterglow is where you begin to integrate the shadows that shaped those patterns,
and discover that authenticity is what makes you powerful.
Not compliant.
Not self-sacrificing.
Powerful.
Radiant.
Authentic AF.
A truth that is no longer managed, but embodied.
This is where you learn how to be you, without apology.
I created Afterglow for women who are ready to fully meet themselves.
This is a structured, trauma-informed 9-week experience where we integrate the patterns and wounds that keep you fighting for access to your own power, so you can stop managing your truth and start embodying it.
Here, self-trust isn’t affirmed. It’s rebuilt.
The stories of “not enough” aren’t bypassed. They’re examined, understood, and integrated.
Afterglow is reclamation.
Embodied. Unapologetic. Fully yours.
These shadows are intelligent adaptations, each carrying information, history, and wisdom. They are patterns and parts that your nervous system and psyche developed to help you survive, belong, and stay safe. In Afterglow, we learn how to stop judging them, and shift towards understanding integration, and reclaimation of the power they’ve been protecting.
Survival
How your nervous system learned to keep you safe, and how those early strategies may still be shaping your sense of safety, belonging
and dignity.
Mother
Your own mother wound, and the ways you learned to care for others (and yourself) through what was modelled or expected.
Heart
Your emotional landscape, and how feelings are held, expressed, protected, or pushed down in the body.
Doubt
The voices and conditioning that taught you not to trust yourself, and how patriarchal narratives quietly erode inner knowing.
Pleasure
Your relationship to desire, aliveness, and the body you live in, including how pleasure has been constrained, shamed, or made conditional.
Truth
What becomes possible when self-expression is no longer negotiated for safety, approval, or belonging.
Power
Your relationship to authority, intuition, and agency, including the legacies of the witch wound and the cost of being visible.
When you start to see your shadows clearly, something shifts. You stop reacting on autopilot. You notice the pattern in real time. You feel where it lives in your body. That awareness is where choice begins, and choice is where your power returns.
The Seven Shadows

Who is This For
Afterglow is for those who are done living by everyone else’s rules and ready to come home to themselves.
You might be:
-
A mother who loves her children deeply while quietly wondering when you stopped existing outside of caretaking.
-
A partner who feels unseen, who fakes smiles (and sometimes fake orgasms) because its just easier.
-
A chronic people-pleaser who swallows every “no” to keep the peace, then cries in the shower because you can’t remember the last time you said “yes” to you.
-
Someone who has been told your joy is selfish, your desire is dangerous, your power is too much (and you’re ready to call bullshit on all of it).
-
The one lying awake at night, scrolling until your eyes burn, asking, “Is this really it?”
And just as importantly, Afterglow is for you if you are:
-
Open to embodied practices, ritual, and honest self-inquiry.
-
Willing to be seen (even the messy, tender parts).
-
Ready to take responsibility for your healing, with support and without shame.
-
Committed to honouring the lived experiences of others in an inclusive, compassionate space.
Who is This Isn't For
Afterglow is powerful medicine, but it’s not for everyone. This space isn’t for you if:
-
You want someone else to “fix” you while you sit back. (I’ll guide you, but you’ve got to show up for yourself.)
-
You’re unwilling to be honest about where you’re at, even when it’s messy or uncomfortable.
-
You roll your eyes at words like ritual, embodiment, shadow, or pleasure. (If that makes you cringe, this probably isn’t your vibe.)
-
You can’t hold space for perspectives outside your own, or you’re not open to an inclusive environment for women and gender-diverse AFAB folks.
-
You’re looking for a quick-fix, surface-level “self-care checklist.” (This is deep work, not bubble baths and vibes-only manifesting.)
-
You’re not ready to take accountability for your own healing, or you want to keep blaming everyone else instead of reclaiming your power.
-
You identify as a cis man or a non-binary AMAB person. This container is intentionally held for women (which includes trans women) and gender-diverse AFAB folks.
Afterglow is for the brave ones who are ready to face their shadows with compassion, curiosity, and courage. If that’s not where you’re at right now, that’s okay. This circle may not be your medicine (yet).
Your Afterglow isn’t built in a straight line. It unfolds layer by layer, like phases of the moon.
Each shadow reveals a gift of healing:
What You Will Leave With
By the end of these nine weeks, you will know yourself differently.
You will recognize your patterns as they arise instead of being run by them. You will understand where they came from, what they were protecting, and how to move with them instead of against yourself.
You will trust your no.
You will be devoted to your yes.
You will feel desire in your body without immediately trying to silence it.
You will have language for your needs.
Practices that ground you when you’re worried, angry or afraid.
A deeper relationship with your own power, the lived kind that makes you magnetic.
You will leave with tools, community, and a steadier sense of who you are.
All of this changes how you mother.
How you partner.
How you lead.
How you love.
How you show up for you.

Meet Your Guide
Hi, I’m Krystal Jannelle.
I’m a somatic shadow work practitioner, author of Hot Mess Empress, and the woman behind Afterglow.
My work lives at the intersection of nervous system science, ancient wisdom, and lived experience. I’m triple VITA-certified, deeply trauma-informed, and trained across modalities including Ayurveda, somatic psychology, and neuroscience.
More than that, I know how to hold complexity.
I know how to sit with grief without rushing it.
I know how to meet rage without pathologizing it.
I know how to witness power without trying to soften it.
Afterglow exists because I’ve walked through my own shadows. I’ve lived the life of pretending, and diluting myself. And I’ve done the slow, embodied work of coming home to myself.
Inside of Afterglow, you won’t be rushed. You won’t be shamed. You won’t be managed or minimized.
You will be met.

I am a Queer, cis woman. A wife. A mother. A reader of too many books. A lover of mountains and cappuccinos. And I care deeply about creating spaces where people can return to their own authority. All of you is welcome here.
When you join us, I will meet you fully.
What Folks Are Saying
"When I first started, I was hoping for a bit of information about what shadows were and how they might impact our day to day lives. I had no idea how it would expose real wounds and begin the process of actual healing - no bypassing here! It far exceeded my expectations." - Anonymous
"I have a new sense of what being true to me really looks like at this stage of my life and I am excited! I remembered that I am important, my opinions are valid and sought after. I am so much more than the story, the suggested programming for how I "should" be thinking, feeling and living my life. Fuck that - it was amazing each week to throw caution to the wind and check out a new perspective!!" - Kelly
"It was a breakthrough for me during the Shadow of the Mother that I can be my own mother. I can be that loving, supportive, encouraging human that is in my court every single time. My mother is supportive of everyone else in this world except her own family - she can be so fucking harsh, judgmental and at times devastatingly unsupportive. To realize I can be the mother I have always wanted was big - I am becoming aware of times I can show up for me." -Anonymous
"I found each [shadow] to have great value for me. The Shadow of Power was impactful for me to visualize what my life could have been like - it felt like I was watching a movie of this young girl growing up in a loving, supportive and encouraging environment. I realized what support could have looked like, the life I could have created and experienced and rather than being upset I was empowered to create this life for myself now. This rich, full life I have always longed for without even knowing I did - is now obtainable for me. I love love love this!!"- T
"I love your approach - soft, loving and so fucking supportive! I liked the commonalities that surfaced between us and how fun it became to celebrate each other and our awareness. I felt safe, trusting and seen/heard! Thank you!" - K
"I got to fully embrace the major parts of my shadow and in doing so I found a level of clarity and self respect that has been quite profound. I know so much more about who I am and that a rich and satisfying life is fully within my reach. I am now celebrating the possibilities on a daily basis!!"- S

Questions?
What is Somatic Shadow Work? Somatic shadow work is the practice of exploring the parts of you that were shaped by adaptation. This includes the versions of you that learned to pretend, be quiet, over-give, or harden in order to belong or survive. We work with them through the body, not just the mind. Instead of only talking about patterns, we track where they live in your nervous system. We notice sensations, impulses, and protective responses in real time. From there, we build awareness, compassion, and integration, so those parts no longer run your life unconsciously. We break the pattern of analyzing yourself endlessly, and shift into embodied awareness and choice.
I’ve done therapy before. Is this the same thing? No. Afterglow is not therapy. It is a somatic, trauma-informed group coaching experience rooted in shadow integration, nervous system awareness, ritual, and embodied practice. Many participants have done therapy and find this work complementary and experiential in a different way.
I’m not sure I’m “ready.” How do I know? You don’t need to be fearless. You need to be willing. If you’re tired of diluting yourself, tired of repeating the same patterns, and open to looking honestly at what’s been running you, that’s more than enough.
Are payment plans binding? Yes. When you choose a payment plan, you are committing to the full investment. Please select a plan that allows you to show up fully and responsibly.
Is this for all genders? Afterglow is designed for women and AFAB folks ready to explore patriarchal conditioning and shadow integration in an intimate container. If you’re unsure whether this space is aligned for you, reach out.
Is this trauma-informed? Yes. This space is grounded in consent, nervous system awareness, and choice. You will never be pushed to share beyond your capacity. We work with the body gently and at a pace that honours individual thresholds. You are always in agency here.
What if I’m afraid to be seen in a group? That fear makes sense. Many people enter this work carrying shame, self-doubt, or a history of feeling too much or not enough. This container is intentionally capped at 12 participants to create intimacy without overwhelm, and allow for more personalized support. You are invited, but never forced into participation.
What if this brings up intense emotions? It might. Shadow work can surface grief, anger, desire, and truth that have been held quietly for a long time. You will be supported with grounding tools and integration calls specifically designed to metabolize what arises. You are responsible for your own care, and you will not be alone in the process.
What’s the time commitment outside of calls? Roughly 1 hour per week for reflection, workbook prompts, and integration practices. Some weeks you may want more, and others less. Everything is optional. This work deepens in proportion to your engagement.
How do scholarships work? Two scholarship spaces are available for those who require additional financial support. Applications are reviewed privately and thoughtfully. If you need this option, apply honestly.
Your Afterglow Begins Here
You’ve lived your whole life with the patterns that are keeping you small.
Goddess knows you’ve carried more than your share.
You’ve quieted parts of yourself to make everything else work, and to keep the peace.
At some point, maybe this point, that stops feeling sustainable.
You become ready to meet yourself full.
Afterglow is the place where you can do that.
Where you can turn toward what you’ve avoided.
Where you begin living in a way that actually reflects who you are.
There are only 12 spots in this container.
If you’re ready to be met, to do the work honestly, and claim your power, join us.
